Well we've driven 1700kms so far most of which up the Bruce Highway. We're now located in having driven through and. After being completely dry and reasonably warm for the entire trip up it's now raining on and off. Sometimes quite hard. I suppose we are in the tropics now. With the exception of Maryborough finding (vegetarian) food each night has been easy enough. It turns out we should have looked at the menu of the motel we were in which we had discarded out of hand. In Yeppoon we ended up staying in the seediest motel ever. Holes in the sheets and broken locks on one of the doors. Right above a pub too with bogans yelling all night. Queensland likes their giant things this is the Giant Pelican Been to a few awesome museums also had to miss a few things due to time (like the Bundaberg Distillery tour). The Carriage Museum was pretty awesome full of restored victorian-era carriages. I'm not usually one for war museums but we want to one as something to do it turned out that it had some pretty interesting stuff. There was an old train station in Rockhampton and limestone Caves just north of there both of which were pretty cool. Hansom cab: Horse and Carriage Museum WWII: dead reckoning navigation system give me GPS navigation any day Speaking of satellite navigation which we'd never really used before it's actually pretty good. It did take some getting used to which caused us to accidentally drive over the Brisbane river when we didn't intend to and it gets a bit funny when the highway has been realigned and it no longer knows where you are. Only once do I think it wanted to take us on a dodgy route rather than the signed route that was to Noosa Heads. It's good to see people who understand that you can't really concentrate on something until you stick your tongue out.
